As a Life Sciences Professional, how do you remain primarily focused on the medicines information content that prescribers value most?
A new set of findings from the latest emc user survey offers a clearer understanding of how healthcare professionals (HCPs) interact with medicines information, and how this information can better meet their needs.
With feedback from over 600 HCPs, the survey provides a clear evidence base for shaping future content strategies with your products. 71% of HCPs surveyed use emc (electronic medicines compendium, medicines.org.uk) to inform prescribing decisions, many of whom use emc to understand drug suitability for patients and to feel more confident in their prescribing decisions.
The survey report reveals what types of content HCPs value most. When asked about features on emc, HCPs expressed interest in additions such as:
• Allergen information
• Alerts, highlighting when information has changed
• Additional safety content, such as educational videos.
These preferences point toward a desire for content that is practical and immediately available in patient-facing scenarios. For Pharma, this insight offers a clear steer on prioritising delivery, through accessible channels, of the content that HCPs find most helpful for supporting prescription decisions.
The report also sheds light on the evolving relationship between HCPs and patients and how AI usage compares with other resources such as emc or the manufacturer’s website.
emc receives over 40 million visits per year, with 72% of HCPs stating this resource as their first-choice source of medicines information.
