Cmed, an eClinical specialist with offices in the UK, the US and Romania, has formed a partnership with Tessella, a UK-based information technology and consulting services company, that brings together the two companies’ respective technologies for adaptive clinical trials.

Under the agreement, the companies will ensure interoperability of Timaeus, Cmed’s core electronic data capture and management system, and FATES, Tessella’s execution system for fixed and adaptive clinical trials. The partners have already been collaborating for some time, notably through an Adaptive Trial Design symposium held in Windsor, UK last February.

“With Timaeus, organisations have the ability to acquire, manage and report data in near real-time,” commented Tom Parke, head of clinical technologies at Tessella. “This is particularly important for adaptive trials as it minimises the delay in the availability of response data and therefore adaptation of the trial.”

Ensuring interoperability of two “best of breed” clinical trial products is “an important step in removing the operational complexity associated with adaptive clinical trials”, Parke added.
