Alan Johnson has left his post as UK Health Secretary to take up the post of Home Secretary following Gordon Brown’s Cabinet reshuffle this morning.

Alan Johnson has left his post as UK Health Secretary to take up the post of Home Secretary following Gordon Brown’s Cabinet reshuffle this morning.

Mr Johnson, who has been mentioned as a possible replacement for Mr Brown if he steps down as PM before a general election, will replace Jacqui Smith, who left the Cabinet earlier this week. He had held the position of Health Secretary since June 2007 and has been a relatively popular incumbent.

As of 11.25 this morning, Mr Johnson’s replacement had not been named but there will be full coverage of the changes in next week’s PharmaTimes elerts
