Are GLP-1s healthy? Is ADHD real? Will there be another pandemic (and, if so, when)? Can AI save us? Oh, and when will AI destroy us?
When you’ve been is this game for a while people anoint you, for better or for worse, with a certain degree of healthcare gravitas. They expect you to provide a definitiveness that, in any other realm, would be unreasonable. They want answers. They want reassurance. And, most chillingly, they want the truth. And they want it now.
When I first started out, I may, on occasion, have stood at the bar and offered lofty, hopelessly authoritative opinions about current affairs orbiting around the wider healthcare ecosystem.
People thinking you know things is an intoxicating, seductive prospect and I was only human. Indeed, at the time of writing, I am still only human.
The more you learn the less you know, folks.
And, perhaps buoyed by this realisation, I can crystallise what this periodical actually offers. Not answers or absolution but hypothesis, responsible speculation and what is/might be going on out there, across the pharmaverse.
Above all, however, what we do is to return to these original questions… with more questions. Shaped, nurtured and wangled questions, formed through experience, expertise and the human condition.
These neo-questions and micro-questions are realised through a determination to understand and reduce vagueness.
They are questions nevertheless and questions are what makes us human. The search for the truth, whatever it might be, continues.
